Mental Health First Aiders
Mental Health First Aider (MHFA)
A Mental Health First Aider provides initial support to individuals experiencing mental health challenges, like someone struggling with anxiety or depression. They are trained to recognise signs of mental ill-health, offer a safe and non-judgmental space to talk, and guide the person towards professional help or support systems. They are not therapists, but rather trained to listen, reassure, and help individuals connect with the resources they need.
Our Mental Health First Aiders are:
Miss Robertson – Senior Mental Health and Wellbeing Lead
Mrs Graham – Deputy Mental Health and Wellbeing
Mrs Todd
Our Mental Health and Wellbeing governors are: Mrs Jenny Finnegan and Mrs Jen Hamilton
Our MHFA have been trained to have:
- An in-depth understanding of mental health and the factors that can affect wellbeing
- Practical skills to spot the triggers and signs of mental health issues
- Confidence to step in, reassure and support a person in distress
- Enhanced interpersonal skills such as non-judgemental listening
- Knowledge to help someone recover their health by guiding them to further support.
Please ask a member of staff in our school office if you would like to speak to one of our Mental Aid First Aiders.
